My Day Off

My sweet husband was kind enough to suggest taking the girls out for the morning so I could get some down time.  Well, in those three hours, I was able to do more in the house than I usually get to in an entire week.  Now I am grateful to find the floors swept, vacuumed, Swiffered, rugs taken out and shaken, dog bed washed, table set, french bread baked, dinner in the oven, girls happily worn out (other than Ellie who is refusing a nap), and a general restful and accomplished feel about the place.  Now, is 4pm too late for a morning cup of coffee?

I don't think all this is quite what he hand in mind by encouraging me to "take a break," but I sure feel refreshed!

Daily Bread?

A couple weeks ago I noted a cute exchange between Gilana and myself.

Gilana: Who's coming over today? Is it Daily Bread?
Me: Who?!
Gigi: Daily Bread!
(Then I realized we prayed that morning for God to "give us this day our Daily Bread"...!!!!)

---***~*~***---

Turns out there was much more to it than this.  I eventually discovered Gigi had forgotten the name of a friend (Bailey Brown) who moved away some time ago and renamed her Daily Bread.  I've noticed Gigi walk about the house at times recalling something that she and Bailey had in common such as a toy, and then go on to talk about Daily Bread.  I was quite confused at first until it clicked one day when she asked where Daily Bread had moved to and why she didn't visit us.  At numerous points during the day, Gilana (or Camelia) will recite the Lord's prayer. The dear girls are beseeching the Lord to deliver them from temptation and give them their friend, Daily Bread!

What Was Said

I have taken note lately of what members of the house have been overheard saying of late.  Here is the recent roundup:

Daddy while dressing Eliana: "I forgot how hard it was to do this.  Almost like wrangling a cow!"

Mommy while overseeing Gilana and Camelia cooking: "Camelia, please step back for a moment so your sister can have a turn licking the counter."

Gilana (the circumstances add no rationale to this statement: "We don't like peanut telephones.  They are really not good for us. They can make us get bad boo boos and be really sick.  Isn't that right? We really don't like peanut telephones!"

Camelia while running laps around the kitchen island: " We are running out of time.  We are running out of time! My pants are falling down, too!!"

Eliana first thing in the morning from her bed: "All doe.  All doe.  All doe!"
When upset: "Mama ma ma ma."
When happy: "Dadadada!"

8 Month Ellie

Eliana is such a gem!  Two days ago she broke her second tooth with little complaint and no drooling to speak of.  She is once again returning to better sleep patterns after a hiatus for our family trip up North, initial (first tooth) teething troubles, and a cold.  She is a trooper and takes all trials with minimal fuss and a cheery disposition.  I love this gorgeous little "chunky bubs" as Gilana affectionately calls her.  Ellie responds to her name, is showing an increased interest in solid foods, enjoys drinking from a cup, and appears to have added more words to her repertoire.  This baby stage is going so fast!!!!

Ellie's first word was "Dada", followed by "All Doe" (all done) and a violent shake of the head at dinner time, followed by "No mama nononono mamamamama" when I put her down for her nap yesterday afternoon!

She appears to be becoming a belly sleeper as she starts to roll every time I lay her down, unless well propped in place by her teddy bears.  The pacifier is ancient history since her teething troubles several weeks ago, and she is now an excellent sitter.  Tonight she even stood herself up very wobbly by pulling on my pant legs for support.  She is amazing!

Byron took her out for a mini photo shoot, and I am delighted with what he came back with!

Rejoicing

Isaiah 61

vs 3
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

vs 10-11 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
