Firework Conductors

The 4th of July was especially memorable this year.  We determined to forgo sleep and the ease of routine bedtime rituals for the alternative of watching our children watch their first fireworks display.  To get a better understanding of the spectacle we enjoyed on this fair night, summon Fantasia to your memory.  You remember Mickey Mouse in his grand act as the Sorcerer's Apprentice?  This is exactly what we witnessed Camelia perform.

After running amok with the other children high on the mountain where our church resides overlooking a lake, Camelia and Gigi managed to sweet talk some glow-sticks from another family.  They admired the glow-sticks as the night darkened, till with a dramatic snap of her wrist, Gilana summoned the fireworks-- or so she thought.  Hearing of Gilana's great successes with the magic glow-wand, Camelia joined suit in conducting the fireworks!  We were not about to dissuade their absolute belief in these new-found powers, and encouraged these great skill for the rest of the show.  These expressive gestures and sweeping full-body motions continued from both of our girls throughout the display, but the exuberance and delight of Camelia outshone the burst of light before us.  The evening was entirely beautiful.  Oh, the exceptional delight of a child!  The girls danced and twirled the night away, and the evening ended with Gigi curled under a blanket professing her need for bed and sleep.  An unusual request, but certainly a sweet and well-deserved one!
